Полотно «Кара-Таш» стало центральным произведением, над которым Суразаков работал в течение нескольких лет. Кара-Таш в переводе с
алтайского означает чёрный камень. Так называется большая округлая скала на пути к главной вершине Ак-Тру в Северо-Чуйском хребте. Она
не случайно привлекла внимание живописца: уж слишком картинно, как готовая композиция, смотрится это природное образование в центре речной долины с высокими берегами. На первом натурном этюде 1995 г. приметный объект написан в богатой по цвету коричнево-голубой гамме. Вершину утёса скрывает шлейф облаков в виде фигур каких-то фантастических зверей. Выступы скал со снежными шапками кажутся живыми существами, прижавшимися к каменному массиву. Динамизм пейзажу придаёт бегущая среди разноцветных окатышей вода.
