Wladimir von Swertschkoff. PhotograpfWladimir von Swertschkoff. PhotograpfVirtual exhibition dedicated to the artist Wladimir von Swertschkoff, a painter, graphic artist, master of stained glass art. Swertschkoff was well known during his lifetime but then was completely forgotten after his death.

Exhibition has been prepared by the Russian Museum on the initiative of Consul General of the Russian Federation in Finland Alexander Sverchkov. The exhibition was prepared with the participation of the researchers of the artist’s creative work and the institutions from Finland and Russia: Turku Adult Education Centre in Turku, Department of Museums Adminisrtation of Turku, Turku Cathedral Museum, Tatiana Knyazhitskaya, head of the Internet portal "Stained glass in Russia», The Saratov State Art Museum named after A.N.Radichshev.

Wladimir von Swertschkoff was born in 1820/1822 (September 14, 1821?) in Lovisa, Finland. He was a master of the battle painting, history painting, portraiture and still life. The artist became known in the first place as a master of stained glass art. Biography of the artist is connected with Finland, Russia, Germany and Italy. The most important collection of Swertschkoff ‘s works is kept in the State Russian Museum.

Wladimir von Swertschkoff died on 2/14 July 1888 in Florence, Italy.
