The Large Study
The Large StudyThe Large Study of Countess Sofia Stroganova The study, designed by Andrei Voronikhin about 1804, was a painterly studio of the palace’s owner. The architect decorated the upper part of the walls with copies of reliefs in the Temple of Antoninus and Faustina in Rome (2nd century). Without windows the room had been lit up by means of a light lantern that was lost in the 1840s because of overbuilding an upper floor. |
