The Greek Room
The Greek RoomThe Greek Room In 1804 Andrei Voronikhin replaced Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli’s Drawing Room by the Greek Room and the Rest Room that Carlo Rossi redesigned in the Empire style in the 1820s. Since than, it was part of Countess Sofia Stroganova’s (née Golitsyna) suite. In the 1840s Pyotr Sadovnikov altered the Greek Room and the area neighbouring a staircase. He designed the premise in the Late Classical style. Later on, in the 1860s Harold Bosse gave back this part of the house Rastrelli’s planning for the Most Serene Princess Elizaveta Saltykova (née Countess Stroganova). He designed it in the Neo-Baroque style. |
