The Mineral Study
The Mineral StudyThe Mineral Study The two-tiered area of the room was designed with a cupola and in such a way as to be associated with a temple. However, the first tier was destined for holding books, while the second one for holding minerals. On the four walls of the room there are bas-reliefs allegorically representing the four elements: Fire, Earth, Air and Water. The room’s decoration was carried out by the architect Andrei Voronikhin for Count Alexander Stroganov in 1791–1792. |
