Playroom
PlayroomThe room was intended for Petr Petrovich (1715–1719), son of Peter the Great and Catherine I. The ceiling is decorated with a plafond – Peace and Quiet (early 18th century) – glorifying the future rule of the heir to the throne. There is also a portrait of the tsarevitch painted as Cupid with a bow, arrows and a ribbon of the Order of St Andrew the First-Called over his shoulder (it is a copy of the well-known portrait by Louis Сaravaque made by painter Nikanor Tyutryumov). The room is furnished with a walnut bureau (Dutch, late 17th – early 18th centuries) decorated with ivory inlay, а chest (Italian, 18th century), а cradle (Dutch) and а four-fold screen (late 17th – early 18th centuries) decorated with marinas by a Dutch artist. |
